In the debate on gender, a small but vocal minority has, in recent years, spoken out against women’s emancipation, feminism and gender equality. This minority calls itself the anti-feminist men’s rights movement. The anti-feminist (men’s rights) discourse appears to have become increasingly prevalent in the media, particularly on the internet, over the past few years. Negative attitudes towards feminism are also increasingly taking centre stage in the Austrian media. Through an analysis of an article published on ’unzensuriert.at’, this book demonstrates that the Austrian media do indeed employ anti-feminist and men’s rights argumentation strategies, ideologies and patterns of thought, and examines the specific ways in which this occurs.
