Em vez de oferecer uma exegese linear, examina como essas ordens operam dinamicamente, moldando as condições da vida psíquica e delimitando o que pode ser representado, articulado ou encontrado como impossibilidade.O imaginário designa o registro da identificação especular e da formação do ego, destacando o papel do reconhecimento equivocado na estabilização da coerência subjetiva. O simbólico introduz a primazia do significante, inserindo o sujeito em redes de linguagem, parentesco e leis que precedem qualquer existência individual. É através do simbólico que o desejo é articulado, mas também restringido, por estruturas que transcendem a intenção consciente. O real, resistente à simbolização e irredutível à imagem ou ao significante, marca os limites do discurso e os pontos em que o sujeito se depara com a impossibilidade estrutural.Este volume não pretende simplificar o sistema de Lacan nem tratá-lo como um edifício doutrinário fechado. Em vez disso, aborda as três ordens como ferramentas para analisar a formação do sentido, a lógica do desejo e as fraturas inerentes a todos os sistemas simbólicos. Ao traçar seu desenvolvimento teórico e suas implicações clínicas, os capítulos que se seguem oferecem um ponto de partida rigoroso para a topologia lacaniana, ao mesmo tempo que iluminam a relevância desses conceitos para a prática psicanalítica, a teoria cultural e o estudo mais amplo das ciências humanas.
