Este libro se compone de 20 cuentos que abarcan temáticas muy diversas, inspirados en hechos de la máxima cotidianidad (unos viajeros que esperan en la terminal de un aeropuerto y no saben qué hacer durante el tiempo 'muerto', una matrimonio que entra en crisis debido a los ronquidos que emiten durante la noche, personas que buscan un sentido a su vida dentro de su entorno laboral...), así como en las temáticas que caracterizan y dan formato a nuestra época: la crisis migratoria, impacto de la política en la sociedad, el amor, la vejez, la senectud, la muerte, los que intentan sobrevivir al margen del sistema, ...El título de la recopilación intenta expresar la idea que actúa como eje conductor de todas las narraciones: al igual que el hielo, la vida de los humanos puede ser glacial, inhóspita, terrible y cruel, como lo es la propia naturaleza, donde no encontraremos nunca normas ni principios morales que nos justifiquen.
