His Last Bow is a Sherlock Holmes story set on the eve of World War I. Unlike the usual detective cases, this tale focuses on espionage. Holmes, now retired and living quietly as a beekeeper, comes out of retirement for a final mission to aid Britain. He infiltrates and outwits a German spy ring led by the cunning Von Bork. Holmes reveals himself at the critical moment, capturing the spy and preventing sensitive British naval intelligence from being leaked. The story ends with a patriotic note, emphasizing Holmes’s continued dedication to his country even in old age.
