En effet, l’étude de l’action est une réponse à la question: 'Oui ou non, la vie a-t-elle un sens, et l’homme a-t-il une destinée'?Faisant fond sur l’action, mieux sur l’indigence constitutionnelle de l’action, Maurice Blondel s’élève peu à peu jusqu’au divin, jusqu’au Dieu de la foi chrétienne et catholique. L’être humain se sent et même se comporte, peut-être à son insu, comme un maillon d’une chaîne d’actes qui ont commencé avant lui et sans lui, mais qui se poursuivent en lui et par lui. La société est un des maillons aussi de cette chaîne.Ce faisant, elle ne peut être comprise si on l’ampute de ses dessous infrahumains et de ses dessus transcendants. Elle est à la fois une œuvre de la nature et de la raison, du déterminisme et de la liberté, portant chacun l’empreinte du divin.Alors si l’homme est nécessairement 'un animal politique', comment expliquer ses attitudes et ses pratiques anti-sociales telles que la dictature, l’esclavagisme, les conflits et les guerres? Quelle solution idoine nécessite ce problème existentiel?
