Tullius Cicero de amicitiae natura ac praestantia disputat: quae in virtute fundata sit, quae temporum iniurias ac omnium casuum impetus fortiter sustineat, quaeque vitam hominum honestate ac splendore augeat atque ornet. In sermone tranquillo, sed plena sapientiae gravitate, amicitiam ad dignitatis fastigium tollit eamque iustitiae ac veritati comparandam putat. Hoc opus, extremo rei publicae tempore scriptum, hodie quoque clara ac quasi viva voce nos admonet; neque enim, saeculis mutatis, mutata est hominum natura: idem semper pectus quaerit, cui se animo ac consilio adiungat.
