Sono state preparate nanoparticelle (NP) di argento, palladio e bimetalliche Pd-Ag sia con metodi convenzionali che con ultrasuoni. Il metodo a ultrasuoni ha consentito di sintetizzare NP con una distribuzione granulometrica più ristretta. Le NP preparate sono state caratterizzate con diversi metodi, quali diffrazione dei raggi X, microscopia elettronica a trasmissione, TEM ad alta risoluzione, spettroscopia UV-vis, microscopia a effetto tunnel e analisi a raggi X a dispersione di energia. Sono stati preparati nanofluidi altamente stabili in acqua distillata (DW) e glicole etilenico senza alcun tensioattivo e sono state misurate la loro conduttività elettrica e le proprietà reologiche a diverse frazioni di volume e temperature. A 20 °C sono stati ottenuti aumenti del 26,4% e del 31,58% della viscosità del glicole etilenico rispettivamente per i nanofluidi con il 5% di argento e il 5% di NP Pd-Ag. È stato ottenuto un aumento del 3975% della conduttività elettrica della DW a 50 °C per il nanofluido contenente il 2% di Ag. Sono stati osservati aumenti del 7567% e del 3841% della conduttività elettrica della DW a 25 °C rispettivamente per i nanofluidi con l’1% di Pd e l’1% di Pd-Ag NP.
