Sodamanía: dícese del furor desatado en Latinoamérica por el grupo musical argentino Soda Stereo hacia finales de la década de los ochenta, especialmente en sus visitas promocionales y giras de conciertos por Chile y Perú en 1986 y 1987.Con la recuperación democrática el rock argentino protagonizó una renovación estética y profesional que atrajo a un público cada vez más masivo. Algunos de sus artistas más conocidos, como Charly García, Miguel Mateos, G.I.T. o Enanitos Verdes, se propusieron entonces hacer llegar sus canciones al resto del continente. Pero Soda Stereo desencadenó un fenómeno y una respuesta inesperada y sin precedentes que recordó las imágenes de la beatlemanía veinte años antes. El trío se convirtió en una forma de sentir la vida y una vía de escape para miles de jóvenes agobiados, especialmente en aquellos países que todavía atravesaban o acababan de salir de férreas dictaduras. Con sus canciones, peinados, maquillajes y declaraciones, ofreció a sus seguidores la posibilidad de ser parte de algo diferente en un contexto de opresión y fragilidad institucional.Este libro analiza aquella explosión y reconstruye al detalle cada concierto a través de los testimonios de los integrantes del grupo y su staff, así como de productores y periodistas locales que hicieron posible esta aventura, o de los recuerdos actuales de los por entonces jóvenes fanáticos que vivieron esos shows.
