Motivation towards the study of mathematics in engineering careers is a key factor for students’ success in it. However, there are insufficiencies in the development of mathematical skills for the achievement of the objectives of this discipline in the career. The present work aims to motivate students through a methodology for teaching mathematical modeling, via differential equations, in the Agricultural Engineering course. From the realization of the pre-professional practice of the students, the subject of Higher Mathematics is inserted with the orientation of extra-mathematical activities related to the study of professional problems, the realization of workshops for the definition of professional problems and their subsequent mathematical modeling.
