A motivação para o estudo da matemática nos cursos de engenharia é um fator chave para o sucesso dos estudantes de engenharia. No entanto, existem insuficiências no desenvolvimento de competências matemáticas para atingir os objectivos desta disciplina na licenciatura. O objetivo deste trabalho é motivar os alunos através de uma metodologia de ensino de modelagem matemática via equações diferenciais no curso de Engenharia Agrícola. A partir da prática pré-profissional dos alunos, a disciplina de Matemática Superior é inserida com a orientação de atividades extra-matemáticas relacionadas ao estudo de problemas profissionais, a realização de oficinas para a definição de problemas profissionais e sua posterior modelagem matemática.
