Questo lavoro consiste in uno studio petrografico del calcare di Kwilu nel sottogruppo di Lukala sfruttato a Songololo dalla cementeria Kongo (CIMKO). Da un punto di vista macroscopico sono stati descritti 22 sondaggi contenenti e suddivisi in tre litofacies. L’analisi dei campioni portati in laboratorio ha mostrato una diagenesi della micrite che si trasforma in microsparite e sparite. L’interesse di questo studio risiede nell’analisi petrografica dei diversi tipi di litofacies del calcare sfruttato e nella loro classificazione nella scala stratigrafica locale. I risultati di questo lavoro ci hanno permesso di evidenziare tre litofacies di colore grigio chiaro, grigio verdastro e grigio scuro classificate e distribuite nella formazione di Bulu e Luanza dell’unità di Kwilu.
