Khalil sometimes wonders if his pieces will fit? He gets anxious when he’s around too many people and sometimes he finds it hard to do things he sees other children do with ease. Khalil shares some of his difficulties but then finds himself having to answer a far more important question. Note from the author: 'What If My Pieces Don't Fit' was written to share, celebrate, and teach about some of the challenges persons living with Autism may face. Our thirteen year old son guided the crafting of this book and played a fundamental role in explaining the core feelings behind his anxiety and fears of his youth. Additionally, while there are various perspectives regarding the use of puzzle pieces, our son made the final decision (as he should). Not only does he embrace puzzle pieces, he also helped design the cover.
